London Calling Cards

I started off this project brainstorming what London really meant to me, and what a calling card actually is.

I decided that coffee shops are a big part of my life. it's where I go to socialise, to draw, to relax, to do my work, have conversations with my dad. so for this project I went around London collecting conversations and drawings of the types of people in these places.

Coffee Shop Recordings

I had collected coffee receipts over the past two years from when I was studying Architecture at Westminster, to when I changed course to UEL. There are about 75 in total.

After presenting these receipts in the crit, the feedback given, gave me the idea to use the conversations I had collected to make my own receipts by screen printing. I used newsprint to print on, as it was the closest paper type to receipts that I could find. Real receipts use thermal paper that change colour when exposed to heat.

This project is ongoing, i'm still collecting snippets of conversations wherever I go...
